Tents with an AC Port

Last Updated on July 24, 2020

The easiest way to camp with an air conditioner for your tent, is to choose a camping tent with an air conditioner port. Our first group of tents have pre-cut air conditioner holes that usually double as ground vents to help air flow. Using a tent with a port is a nice option because you don’t have to worry about damaging the tent by cutting holes. The hole included is seamed around the edges for you, eliminating the need for you to have to glue or sew edges onto your tent. We have reviewed 4 tents below that come with these air conditioning ports.  The next set includes 2 tents that have ground vents that can be used with a portable air conditioner.  A hole can be cut into the mesh and the hose from the portable air conditioner can be vented out these ground vents.

Ozark Trail 12 Person 3 Room L-Shaped Instant Cabin Tent

The Ozark Trail 12 Person 3 Room L-Shaped Instant Cabin Tent should be one of your top picks if you’re looking for a large family camping tent with an air conditioner port. The reason we feel it is the best tent for families wanting to bring an air conditioner, is the huge 3 room design which is great especially if you have older and younger children camping together. The tent is considered an instant tent so setup should be relatively easy. Another great feature is a large awning for a shady spot near the tent.

Camping Tent with AC Port for Tent Air Conditioner

Here is a closeup picture of the ground vent being used as the air conditioner port for the tent. The other great feature of this tent is the E-Port that allows convenient access for an electrical cord without unzipping the door of the tent. This allows electricity to be run for the air conditioner inside the tent through a separate hole, rather than trying to run it through the same port for the air conditioner.

Ozark Trail describes the tent: “The Ozark Trail 12-person instant cabin tent sets up in under two minutes! This 12-person tent requires no assembly because the poles are pre-attached to the tent, just unfold and extend. This three-room, cabin-style tent has large windows on all sides and room to stand up with a huge 6’10” center height. It features a large front awning for relaxing under the shade. In addition, it comfortably fits three queen airbeds or up to 12 campers in sleeping bags on the floor. Two internal room dividers allow you to create separate sleeping and living spaces. Keep cool with the oversized ground vent that also fits an air conditioner. Rainfly and carry bag are also included.”

Some things to keep in mind are that this tent is not a tunnel shape like our top pick for 12 person camping tents. This makes this tent more susceptible to winds and harsher weather. However, if you are a fair weather camper who is not camping every weekend and are looking for a large camping tent with an air conditioner port included, and the convenience of a super easy setup, this is an excellent choice for your needs. Read All Customer Reviews on Amazon

The Klondike sleeps eight, five in its 98 square feet of interior space, with room for sleeping three more in the 60 square foot screen room with its zip up walls. 6.5 feet of head room lets you stand up straight while inside the tent. The attached screen room can also be used as sun shelter, a picnic room, a gear room or a room just to relax in. A full mesh roof and two mesh windows keep bugs out and let the breeze in. In addition a rear mesh vent creates ground breeze. Weather Armor polyester fabric with a polyurethane water resistant coating protects from top to bottom. Double-stitched, lap-felled seams through out the body of the tent provide a shingle effect against water. All threads, zippers and webbing are treated with superior water repellency applications to enforce these critical areas. Read All Customer Reviews on Amazon

Tents with Ground Vents for Portable Air Conditioner Venting

A Portable Air Conditioner for Tents is different than using a window AC.  These portable units are self-standing and usually have wheels.  They vent through a hose and can provide an option for campers who don’t want to use a window unit. The below listed tents have simple ground vents that can be used to vent your tent if you are using a portable air conditioner with a vent hose. Our recommended Portable AC is the Black+Decker Portable AC found on our Tent Air Conditioner review page.  Using a tent with a air vent port requires a little more work as you’ll have to be careful cutting through the mesh and then sealing the hole around the vent hose.

Ozark Trail 9-Person Instant Cabin Tent with Screen Room

This 9 person camping tent has all the features to make your family camping trip fun and comfortable.  It’s large size, ample headroom, and extra features are great selling points in addition to the great value it provides for the price.  It is one of the easiest 9 person tents to setup. The poles are pre-attached to the tent so there is no pole assembly required, just unfold and extend. Setup is easily less than 10 minutes. Additional setup time for the rainfly is needed which includes steel spikes. We recommend this tent for people looking for easy setup in a large tent.  Cabin tents usually do not do as well as dome tents in windy or sever weather, so take that into account. We recommend this tent for family camping and car camping.
