The Ozark Trail 4 Person Outdoor Camping Dome Tent is an excellent car camping tent for campers on a budget and should be a top pick especially if you’re looking for an occasional car camping or family camping tent. Ozark Trail 8 Person Family Tent with Mud Mat

The Ozark Trail 8 Person Family Tent with Mud Mat is our favorite Ozark Trail 8 person tent.  These are car camping tents designed for the family in mind. If you camp occasionally in nice to mild weather, these tents are a great pick. With a tent height at 74″ in the middle, standing up to change and move around is easy.  The total footprint of the tent is 16′ long by 8′ wide, which is large for an 8 person tent.   A removable center room divider allows for privacy or remove it to create one large 115 square foot room. The two D-shaped front doors provide separate exit/entry from either room. The five XL windows are for cross ventilation and a mesh roof for star gazing on clear nights. A front mud mat helps keep the interior clean.  The spaciousness and conveniences of this tent are hard to pass up for the price. Important Considerations for Ozark Trail Camping Tents

Weather Performance – Many of the Ozark Trail tents on our list were designed to perform well when the weather is nice outside.  We recommend them as an excellent choice for car camping where you have quick access to your car if severe weather comes your way.  For these Ozark Trail Tents, we recommend some add-ons we feel will help make your experience better:

  1. Waterproofing – It make a huge difference even if just a shower or rain starts.  Follow our instructions for Water Proof Tent Basics to weatherproof your Ozark Trail tents.  Products we recommend are:
      1. Seam Grip Sealant with Applicator
      2. Kenyon Seam Sealer 4 Pack (get 2 for large tents, you’ll need extra)
      3. Atsko Silicone Water-Guard
      4. Scotchgard Outdoor Water Shield
  2. Extra Tent Stakes – Most tents come with them, but they get bent or lost or sometimes the tent actually doesn’t include them.  Get some extra tents stakes and keep them with your camping gear.  Our recommendations are below:
      1. Eurmax Galvanized Non-Rust Tent Stakes – A good set of stakes at a great price
      2. Spofine Camping Accessories Kit – Includes: 1-Lightweight (0.84lb) Camping Hammer, 10-Aluminum Tent Stakes, 4-13ft Nylon Rope, 4-Metal Rope Adjusters. Comes packaged in an individual collection bag.

Value – You can still get quality while saving money and our top Ozark Trail tent picks represent value and a nice combination of good quality, durability, and price. Our other options should be considered based on your specific needs and how much money you are willing to spend to meet those requirements.

Comfort – If you are looking at family camping tents and car camping tents, you are most likely considering camping with your family or a small group. The comfort of your group is going to be important at the end of a long day of activities or if bad weather ruins your day. You might consider getting a tent with an extra 2 person capacity. Also consider the number of vestibules and their size to store all your gear outside of the tent while still being protected from the elements.
